Terms & Disclaimer

Last updated: 13 July 2026

These terms cover use of the PST Painting & Decorating website and the basic arrangements that apply when we quote for and carry out painting work. They're written in plain language and are not a substitute for a signed job contract on larger jobs.

Website use

This website is provided for general information about our services. Content may be updated or changed at any time without notice. By using the site you agree not to misuse it, attempt to disrupt it, or use it for anything unlawful.

Information accuracy

We try to keep information on this site accurate and up to date, but we don't guarantee it is free of errors or omissions. Photos, colours, and finishes shown are examples only - actual results depend on surface condition, product, lighting and application.

Quotes and estimates

Prices given through this website or over the phone before a site visit are estimates only. A firm quote is provided in writing after we've seen the job. Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless stated otherwise.

A quote covers the scope of work described in it. Extra work found once the job starts (hidden damage, rot, undisclosed surfaces, colour changes, additional coats) will be discussed and priced separately before it's carried out.

Bookings and cancellations

Job dates are confirmed once a quote is accepted in writing (email or text is fine). If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give as much notice as possible. Cancellations at short notice may incur a charge for materials already purchased or time already committed.

Access and site conditions

To carry out the job we need safe, reasonable access to the areas being painted, including power and water where relevant. Please move or cover valuables and fragile items. We take care with your property, but we can't be responsible for items that weren't cleared from the work area.

Payment

Payment terms are set out on each quote or invoice. For larger jobs a deposit or progress payments may be required. Invoices are due by the date shown, typically within 7 days of completion. Late payments may incur reasonable recovery costs.

Workmanship

All work is carried out with reasonable care and skill, using products suitable for the surface and conditions. If something isn't right, please let us know as soon as possible so we can come back and put it right.

Paint finishes are affected by weather, surface condition, and product used. We can't guarantee that pre-existing issues (moisture, movement, previous coatings, substrate failure) won't reappear after painting.

Consumer Guarantees Act

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss or damage arising from work carried out is limited to re-doing the affected work or refunding the amount paid for that work, whichever we choose. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses.

External links

This site may link to third-party websites (for example Google reviews). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute will be handled in the New Zealand courts.
